Description
Like a breath of fresh air, you'll bring color and excitement wherever you go when wearing this scarf! Inspired by an authentic medieval legend, this scarf also has a story to tell, as dramatic and passional as its vivid colors.
The "Legend of the Tree" is an old Italian tale of forbidden love between a queen and her bravest knight, both represented in the design as ceramic "heads" (traditionally produced in Southern Italy during the Middle Ages, and still produced to this day).
During a storm, it is said that the queen, accompanied by an army of 100 knights on their horses, sought refuge under a huge tree in the still-standing village of Sant'Alfio, Italy. The chestnut tree was so old that its roots formed a cave, still visible today. That very night the queen fell in love with her most valiant knight, but their love was forbidden and always kept a secret.
The so called "Hundred-Horse Chestnut" is still the largest and oldest known chestnut tree in the world, believed to be 2,000 to 4,000 years old.
The vines on this exclusive design recall the leaves of the tree under which the secret love blossomed. The deep red makes this scarf pop against the turquoise tiles that decorate the top and bottom portions. The style celebrates historical Italian ceramics, with their vivid colors, majolica vines, and geometric patterns.
You can choose from three delicate fabrics: poly chiffon (semi-sheer); satin charmeuse (shiny front) or matte crepe (low luster). Print is visible 50% - 70% on the back side, depending on your fabric choice.
The biggest size (50" x 50") can also be used as a sarong to cover your swimming suit in style!
Each scarf is printed and sewn by hand in Montreal, Canada.
