Description

This design brings to life a true story that, like no other, has resonated with generations of women for over 500 years. Love, honor, and power are the ingredients of the mysterious account of The Baroness of Carini. This scarf is a statement piece for women's freedom of choice to love, to live, and to pursue happiness. We invite you to read her whole story here.

This scarf, like a book, narrates the story of the Baroness through illustrated episodes, from the days of courtship until her tragic end. The composition is inspired by the hand-painted posters that the old storytellers used as a backdrop, while singing this story to townsfolk before the advent of TV.

The original illustrations have been developed with watercolor, in an elegant bi-chromatic palette of ultramarine blue and golden ochre. Antique tiles have been added to the composition, as a reference to the grand castle where she lived. The horizontal narration is balanced by a vertical composition of golden jewelry. The cameos photograph the two stages of the Baroness' life, the woman and her spirit - a reminder that she will live forever.

You can choose this scarf in natural silk (Silk Habotai), or three delicate poly fabrics that mimic silk at a more affordable price:
Poly Chiffon (semi-sheer), Satin Charmeuse (shiny front), or Matte Crepe (low luster).
Print is visible 50% - 90% on the back side, depending on your fabric choice.

Each scarf is printed and sewn by hand in Montreal, Canada.
Vivid print will never fade after washing.

Silk Habotai

Habotai, from the Japanese habutae, literally means "feather-two-layer" because this silk is a lightweight, sheer, shimmering  fabric, once used mainly for making silk kimonos.

- Made from 8mm 100% natural silk habotai
- Printed with Reactive Inks: this multistep process has been formulated for printing permanently on natural fabrics. It means that your scarf will never fade, and will remain as vibrant as the first day!
- Finished with a machine rolled baby hem that provides a durable yet delicate edge
- Drapes beautifully
- Print is 90% visible on backside of fabric
- Can be machine washed with no fading or change in feel.

Poly Chiffon

- 100% polyester. Not a silk fabric, but has a silky feeling finish
- Drapes beautifully and will never fade
- Print is 70% visible on backside of fabric
- Can be machine washed with no fading or change in feel.

Satin Charmeuse

- 100% polyester satin weave fabric, shiny on one side and matte on the back
- Very soft hand and lovely drape, mimics silk
- Print is 50% visible on backside of fabric
- Can be machine washed but may slightly shrink after the first wash

Matte Crepe

- 100% polyester fancy weave fabric, smooth surface with low luster
- Very soft hand and lovely drape, mimics silk
- Print is 55% visible on backside of fabric

- Can be machine washed but may slightly shrink after the first wash
