Description

For the first time ever, we are proud to bring you this floral scarf that originates from a medieval miniature in the Golestan palace, the palace of Princess Soraya. This was not a simple restoration, but a full reconstruction that we conducted starting from a fragment. You'll be wearing a true and exciting piece of history, like it's never been seen before!

While working on the design, we noticed how the medieval artist wanted to represent the beauty of the water garden at the palace. Butterflies and bees added magic to the idyllic setting, as they can be found hiding among the flowers. Also bigger birds came to drink from the pond, in fact we can see a variety of them along the golden frames that enrich the top and the bottom. In the original fragment, these frames were 24k gold!

We dedicated this scarf to Princess Soraya who must have contemplated that same water garden many times, looking for answers to her complicated love story. See the Related Products below for the matching "Golestan Palace" Clutch Bag which is also part of the Soraya collection.

You can choose this scarf in:
- 100% natural silk (Silk Habotai or Silk Charmeuse);
- mixed silk (Silk Modal);
- or three delicate poly fabrics that mimic silk at a more affordable price: Poly Chiffon (semi-sheer), Satin Charmeuse (shiny front), or Matte Crepe (low luster).
Print is visible 50% - 90% on the back side, depending on your fabric choice.
Below you'll find a detailed description of each fabric, or look at the pictures for a visual comparison.

Each scarf is printed and sewn by hand in Montreal, Canada.
Vivid print will never fade after washing because we use reactive inks that bond permanently to the fabric.
All scarves are finished with a machine rolled baby hem that provides a durable yet delicate edge.

Silk Habotai

This is the classic silk, super-lightweight and sheer. It drapes beautifully.
It's called Habotai because it originates in Japan, where it was used to make silk kimonos. Its light weight (90g/m2) allows the print to be 90% visible on the backside.

- 100% natural silk
- Lightweight: 90g/m2, 8 mm
- Sheer
- Print is 90% visible on backside of fabric

Silk Charmeuse

This silk offers more body, with a weight of 105g/m2. It has a high shine surface that creates a liquid-like feel in the way it drapes. This silk offers the perfect balance of luxury and durability.

- 100% natural silk
- Medium weight: 105g/m2, 12 mm
- High shine surface and matte underside
- Print is about 50% visible on backside

Silk Modal

This is a mixed silk and modal fabric, that makes it more durable than straight silk. It has a subtle textured look, while still maintaining the soft touch and delicate drape typical of silk.

- 15% silk/85% beechwood modal fabric
- High durability
- Print is moderately visible on backside of fabric

Poly Chiffon

- 100% polyester. Not a silk fabric, but has a silky feeling finish
- Semi-sheer
- Print is 70% visible on backside of fabric

Satin Charmeuse

- 100% polyester satin weave fabric. Very soft hand and lovely drape, mimics silk
- Shiny on one side and matte on the back
- Print is 50% visible on backside of fabric

Matte Crepe

- 100% polyester fancy weave fabric
- Low luster
- Print is 55% visible on backside of fabric
