"Cats orchestra" Stretched Canvas

As you look closely, you'll see all the amusing details that make this painting a must have. A winged creature is playing a trumpet using the wrong end of its body, while the owl is trying to look away. The scene is very dynamic and almost chaotic, like cats can be, yet we have the impression that they are playing really good music. Not everybody is paying attention though: to the left, a cat is clearly thinking about food as its paw rests on an empty metal box, and another cat is probably napping as we only see its back.
The author of this painting is unfortunately unknown, but we know that it was painted in the 1700's and it belongs to the Lombard school. Some believe that the theme of this painting is cats being instructed in the art of mouse catching.
We digitally restored the original painting by fixing the many cracks and chipped areas, and giving vibrance to darkened and faded colors. We also extended the canvas so that it seamlessly wraps around the frame without losing inches in the front.
‘Mewling concerts’ became very popular subjects in the Renaissance and often depicted birds, monkeys and other animals. Nobles loved to keep these paintings in their music rooms, and sometimes they commissioned their pets to be part of the scene. 

This matte canvas comes with back hanging already included, has a thickness of 0.75 inches, and the frame is made with profile radial pine that is ethically sourced from renewable forests. The special proprietary coating guarantees a vibrant print that will not fade overtime.
