Description
We are proud to bring you this unique floral tapestry that originates from a medieval miniature in the Golestan palace, the palace of famous Princess Soraya. This was not a simple restoration, but a full reconstruction that we conducted starting from just a fragment. This is an exclusive MedievalMade design.
Water gardens were architectural jewels of Persian palaces, in fact pools were built to reflect the facade and the sky, almost as a natural extension of the palace itself. Then they were surrounded by trees and flowers, creating a true oasis in usually dry areas. Water gardens also had a spiritual function, being considered like mirrors through which people could observe themselves.
While working on the original fragment, we noticed how the medieval artist wanted to portray the explosion of life around the water garden. Butterflies, bees, and other small insects could be spotted hiding among the flowers. Also bigger birds came to drink from the pond, in fact we can see a variety of them along the golden frame at the top. In the original fragment, the frame was 24k gold!
You can hang this tapestry on a wall, or you can use it as a window shade: the outside light will create a magical effect when passing through the colorful fabric!
