"Unicorn in the Garden" Canvas

Here the white unicorn lives happily inside an enclosed garden, while being chained to a tree. He represents the Lover, and the enclosed garden represents his commitment to marriage. The unicorn-lover lives in captivity, but happily so. The tree is a pomegranate, symbol of fertility during medieval times.

The story of the Unicorn Tapestries is as unique as their meaning. Seized during the French Revolution and bound to be destroyed, their beauty saved them from burning. They were recovered half a century later in a barn were they were used to cover vegetables: the farmer believed they were "old curtains."

During this time of abuse and neglect, the tapestries lost some areas of weave and the colors faded. We have digitally restored the artwork, bringing the colors back to life and reconstructing missing patches. We chose a conservative restoration, preserving when possible the signs of antiquity, to keep this work authentic.

These are the only canvases on the market without bleeding wounds. In fact, in the original tapestry, the unicorn spills blood as a symbol of sacrifice, but we decided to eliminate it to better suit a living room environment. In our version, the unicorn is all white and clean!

These canvases feature gallery quality prints, with vibrant artwork that is built to last. They are folded around a lightweight frame to give them a gorgeous, gallery ready appearance. Printed with acid free ink, they also features a scratch-resistant UV coating that will make these canvases last without fading or chipping. The canvases are already assembled and are ready to hang.

All canvas prints are wrapped and shipped in fitted packaging, engineered to prevent damages and dents during transportation.
