"Angels & Gargoyles" Plate

These putti angels are having fun and they are ready to bring all their playfulness into your home! This work is inspired by a medieval ceramic plate displayed at the MET museum that dates back to 1520 and comes from the historical town of Faenza, Italy, famous for its ceramics. We decided to deconstruct and reconstruct the plate with a more modern composition, while keeping the original elements. We also repainted the central scene ex novo, using traditional fresco techniques. We used Mayan blue in order to create a perfect contrast with the yellow frame, for a stunning result that can revive any space. 

Here two putti angels play in the sky, using a cart pulled by a pearl string. This scene is surrounded by a motif of blue gargoyles on a golden background interlaced with pearls. Angels and gargoyles were typical subjects that decorated European churches during the late Middle Ages and Renaissance.

Our unbreakable plate retains the looks of ceramics without the danger of breaking it, because it is made of a special and totally food-safe resin. It can be used as a dinner plate or as a decoration to hang on the wall; it can also sit on a stand because it looks like an authentic ceramic plate.
