We created this design starting from an authentic medieval manuscript, from which we digitally restored and rearranged each jewel to create an exclusive pattern. During the Middle Ages, it was customary for the richest noble woman (a queen or a duchess) to commission paintings of their jewelry, since they were considered true art pieces. The splendid illustrations of real jewels inspired "whimsical" creations like this one, where floral motifs were reinterpreted as jewels. This way, imaginary jewels were created, while celebrating the idea that nature was still the source of it all: flora, gems, and pearls alike. The distinction between man-made artifacts and natural elements was not very important for the medieval folks, as they believed that everything came from God. This design is a great example of that philosophy that guided medieval artists and their lives.
