Description
This portrait is another addition to our special collection The Paladins. Here we have legendary knight Rinaldo, nephew to Charlemagne and cousin of Orlando (see Related Products below for the Orlando canvas).
Rinaldo became one of the most illustrious knights of Charlemagne’s court —indeed, the most illustrious, if we except Orlando. Yet he was not always so obedient to the Emperor’s commands, to the point that one time he was even banished from court!
One of his famous adventures is the pursuit of the untamable horse Bayard. It was said that even to meet him, was certain death. This is because the horse had been held under enchantment by the power of a magician, and the spell could only be broken by a knight with exceptional qualities of courage and strength. The fight was epic but, finally, Rinaldo subdued the mythical horse, who suddenly became gentle and quiet. The spell had been broken.
