"Fleet of the Holy League" Tapestry

This is one of our most iconic designs, a unique nautical print with a modern look and a vintage feel, perfect for any environment. This design is inspired by the incredible Battle of Lepanto, the largest naval battle in Western history fought entirely between rowing vessels!

On 1571 a secret fleet was formed, the Fleet of the Holy League, whose purpose was to defend Christian Europe from the expansion of the Ottoman Empire. 
For the first time in history European nations like the Republic of Venice, Spain, Austria, and many others typically at war which each other, came together.

The design shows the majestic galleys bearing the flags of their nations and powered by hundreds of rowing soldiers, while archers on raised decks defend their kings. We created this design reconstructing actual elements from medieval manuscripts, coming upon interesting details like the scene of a Queen giving advice (or perhaps orders) to her husband the King, who devoutly listens.
On 7 October 1571, the Fleet of the Holy League won over the Mediterranean, shaping the Western world as we know it today.

You can use this tapestry in the classic way hanging on a wall, but it can also be used as a sofa cover, or as a curtain for a nautical accent.
