Description
This is an exclusive MedievalMade product, hand painted in the historical town of Deruta, Italy. Famous for its refined maiolica and its incredible museum of ceramics, Deruta has also been elected one of the most beautiful medieval villages of Italy.
This motif is a so-called "Rafaellesque", a style developed in the 16th century, featuring fine arabesques and grotesques on a fine white ground. Such decoration is now the symbol of this medieval town, along with another highly characteristic style, the "Bella Donna", featuring portraits of local beauties.
Another historical curiosity is that the lack of fuel forced the Derutan artisans to experiment with low firing temperatures, eventually making Deruta the specialized center for metallic lusterware in golds and ruby red, since metals typically fire at lower temperatures than glazes.
We reproduced our exclusive design on a special plate that retains the looks of ceramics without the danger of breaking it, because it is made of a special and totally food-safe polymer. It can be used as a dinner plate or as a decoration because it looks like an authentic ceramic plate.
