Description
This is the blue version of our popular "Botanical illumination" black tapestry (see Related Products below). They both feature botanical art based on authentic medieval manuscripts, since we used hundreds of real illuminations to create this complex composition. Here wild berries and flowers are the perfect playground for busy butterflies, small snails, and curious dragonflies, that frolic among the spiraling leaves typical of scroll art.
During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, botanicals had both medicinal and symbolic use. For example, the pink roses present in this design were used in manuscripts to symbolize gentleness and admiration, while having practical purposes too; their hips (fruits) were used to make oils and jelly, good for skincare and also incorporated into foods.
Strawberries too had a symbolic meaning. Their three leaves were associated with the Holy Trinity, while medicinally, the strawberry was believed to fight inflammation. In this design you can also discover red carnations, blue irises, white lilies, and tricolor violas, all holding very special meanings.
You can hang this tapestry on a wall, but also use it as a cover for a chair or a sofa. Another great use is as a curtain because it creates a beautiful effect when the light comes through the back. Check the Related Products below if you prefer a black background instead.
